What are the criteria for getting admitted?

You must be in active labor which is typically 4cm and contracting every 3-5 minutes regularly. However, sometimes they may have you walk or send you home for awhile if your cervix is not changing, or to see if you change from your previous exam. In tru labor, your cervix will change. It is possible to have regular contractions, but not be in tru labor. This may mean that you might go home, but in a half an hour, feel like you need to come back in. That is totally normal, especially with patients who have already had one baby. They will also admit you if you are not in active labor but there are other concerning issues.
