In 95% of all emergencies, bystanders or victims themselves are the first to provide emergency assistance or to perform a rescue. (Citizen Corps)
• Share Ready Army. Tell people about the website, put up posters, host activities and invite your local emergency manager to speak. These are all ways of getting involved.

• Citizen Corps provides opportunities to prepare, train and participate in community exercises and support local emergency responders. www.citizencorps.gov
• The Emergency Management Institute (EMI) off ers free, self-paced courses designed for people who have emergency management responsibilities and the general public.
