Picking up Your POV Empty Picking up Your POV

Post  bjeb318 Tue Mar 02, 2010 1:00 pm

It takes several weeks for your POV to arrive, and whie you're waiting, please don't forget to call the POV Processing Center at Yongsan and update your contact info, so they know how to reach you when your POV arrives. Don't forget to take the test for your Korean Driver's License on post. If your husband has his military license, he will just need to get a civilian one, he won't have to retake the test. You're not that lucky, though. Wink

The POV Processing Center is located at Camp Kim, Building C-1244, USAG Yongsan. It's not on Main Post, but across from it. We had some trouble finding it, but we were on foot. I'm sure a cab would take you straight there.

After you check in at the processing center, they will go over your paperwork.

from the email I was sent:

1) Bring Insurance Policy which is valid for driving in Korea.
2) Prepare USFK Driver's License, or you can use American driver's license
for one month from the date of your arrival in Korea.
3) Move to new Seoul VPC locating 130 yards inner side Camp Kim, and pick up POV.
(For more guide, call Seoul VPC, commercial phone (02)-798-7031 or DSN 723-8912)
4) After you pick up POV, you will process Vehicle Registration at PASS & ID, PMO
which located at same compound Bldg #1230.

2. USFK Driver's License
3. Proof of Insurance
4. Proof of Ownership(Previous Registration or Title)
5. ID Card & PCS Orders

Your POV may be picked up Monday thru Friday, between 08:00-15:00 Hrs.
(We are closed on Saterday, Sunday & Korean National Holidays)

After you get your POV, you will have to drive it over one building to the registration center, and get your plates. After that, you have to take it to the auto shop (it's all right there at Camp Kim) and have it inspected. I think it was a $20 fee (or maybe $25? I can't remember) for the inspection. After that, you are free to go!

Please, don't forget (like we did) to figure out the way home! We spent about 3 hours exploring Seoul in our van (trial by fire!) when all we really wanted was to go home. Learn from our mistakes, lol.
